Water fitness offers many physical and mental benefits regardless of the season.
- Physical benefits include: cardiovascular fitness for the heart and lungs; joint-friendly movement from the low impact; increased strength; and calorie burn.
- Mental benefits include: mood booster; increased energy; and social interaction.
With the approaching cold months, it’s important to remember the benefits listed above.
The cold may bring on stiff muscles and joints, as well as lower mood and energy. So, how do we embrace the cold? With vigor! Invigorating your muscles and joints in warm water will help keep you moving. As the air temperature drops, the water temperature will feel warmer than usual. Plus, the sense of well-being from physical exercise in the water can help boost endorphins, leading to a better mood especially during the colder months.
It’s important to remember to dress for the occasion. Wearing a long parka with a hood or a robe will help keep you warm when you get out of the pool. While in the pool, you may want to wear a hat and a neoprene jacket to help block the cold and wind.
Drop by one of our many WaterFitness classes throughout the week! All aquatics classes are listed on the class schedule, on the TVs around the Club, member website, and app, or
