Time to Get Back to a Healthier Place

Over the 36 years of employment at The Houstonian Club, we have had many challenges, but I must say COVID-19 has been the biggest challenge in my career. The Club has been open since May 1st (outdoor facilities) and the indoor facilities have been open since May 18th. Since we reopened our facilities, here are the most common statements I hear from Members: "Thank you so much for being open. Thank you so much for everything you are doing. Please don’t close ever again. I needed this workout so much. My children are so happy to be back. You are doing an amazing job at the pools and we love the reservation system. I’m so happy to see all my friends.”
 
The Members of all ages who are coming to The Club on a regular basis, are ready for life to get back to normal. Their Houstonian Club routine was suddenly disrupted. Yes, there were many positives during the "Stay at Home Order” as we learned to appreciate the simplicity of being at home with our families. However, for many people, the Houstonian Club is their home away from home and they were ready to return to their second home.  
 
Our Members talk about driving on to the beautifully landscaped Campus, walking into the building, seeing the friendly, warm smiles from the staff (behind our masks), and most of all getting a great workout. Those Members who are still nervous enjoy the outdoor track, the outdoor racquet sports facilities, the pools and outdoor dining.

Our consultant, Dr. Ed Septimus, who has treated many COVID patients in the Medical Center, is also a Member and discusses the importance of exercise during this time in our video. Click here to view our video. 

During the pandemic, he mentions the increased cases of depression, alcoholism, drug addiction and domestic violence. Many people have also gained a considerable amount of weight during the closure, as well, which can cause secondary medical problems such as hypertension, heart disease and diabetes.

The Houstonian Club is your home away from home! If you have not returned to The Club yet, please come by for a tour, so you can see first-hand, all the initiatives we are implementing to keep our employees and Members safe. We would love to help you return to your normal routine. We will assist you with the new reservation systems and help you get reconnected. We do certainly understand, that many of you are still uncomfortable, but we’re here for you and we want to support you in your wellness goals.
