The Advantages of Aquatic Exercise

Aquatic exercise offers a unique and highly effective way to boost heart health! Moving through water strengthens the heart muscle, making your heart more efficient at pumping blood and oxygen throughout your body. This improved cardiovascular endurance is crucial for reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

One of the greatest benefits of aquatic exercise is that it’s low impact, making it both accessible and effective for nearly everyone, including those with joint pain, arthritis, or recovering from injuries. The buoyancy of water helps reduce stress on joints like the hips, knees, and spine, enabling a greater range of motion and more comfortable, prolonged workouts. The soothing environment of water combined with rhythmic movements, can lower cortisol levels and promote relaxation.

You do not need to be a skilled swimmer to enjoy the heart-healthy advantages of aquatic exercise. Here at The Houstonian Club, we offer a wide array of options for all fitness levels. Members can take advantage of daily adult swim classes to refine technique and build endurance or participate in over 30+ aquatics group classes per week. For more information about our aquatic classes, please contact Aquatics Director Westly Tupa at 713.685.6709 or at wtupa@houstonian.com.
