Move Forward with and an Intentional Nutrition Plan

A time for reflection and planning is upon us as we drift into the New Year, so what does this mean for health and nutrition?

Many times, we select an all-or-nothing approach or a fully restrictive RESET. This leads us to falling back into old habits with long-term impacts on our health. Healthy living means assessing your patterns, expanding your knowledge on risk exposures, and establishing parameters to implement better food choices. As awareness and food knowledge develops, it becomes easier to gain confidence and make new habits stick.

The New Year often brings renewed motivation, making it a great time to learn how certain foods interact with the body’s systems
  • Consider meeting with a registered dietitian for ongoing nutrition guidance. An individualized approach to changing your diet considers your schedule, how quickly you wish to reach your health goals, medical history, and food preferences. This is especially helpful for those with busy or non-traditional schedules, where timing and consistency can be challenging.
  • Find the right tools to get started. Tracking progress should be supportive, feedback-oriented, and NOT STRESSFUL. Sometimes simply tracking habits over a week can identify patterns and barriers without guilt. Awareness brings adjustment, and adjustment leads to progress.
  • Set a foundation for nutrition, not a "perfect plan.” Focus on three anchor areas: protein, fiber, and fluids, before worrying about perfection. These elements support energy, blood sugar balance, digestion, and satiety.
Creating your nutrition patterns leads to sustained energy levels, better recovery, and improved longevity. From grocery shopping lists and brand selections to menu planning, recipe modifications, and portioning plates, working with a registered dietitian can help establish better habits. Small, consistent steps taken with support can lead to meaningful, sustainable change all year long.
