Fall Racquet Sports Programs

As summer comes to an end, we want to let you know about our daily clinics, after-school programs for kids, and weekend classes. There’s something for everyone to enjoy in the racquets department.

Our regular clinics on the app, mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends, will continue into the fall. This includes live ball tennis classes, instructional tennis, pickleball, and padel clinics, as well as all our open plays.

Tennis:
Our popular Adult 6-Week Beginner Tennis Clinic will be offered several times a week for ‘new to tennis’ Members to learn all the strokes, footwork, and rules. Classes are held in the evenings or at lunchtime, allowing Members who work during the day to also attend. It’s a great way to learn and connect with others at the same level, ensuring everyone feels comfortable. Please email our Racquet Sports Director Sarah Flood at sflood@Houstonian.com for more information.

Kids Tennis:
When children are developing their racquet skills, they benefit from private one-on-one lessons in addition to group classes. Private lessons provide the focused setting, skill development, and repetition needed, while giving the pro time to correct any habits. Group classes are equally important, not just because they are social and fun, but because they challenge children with a wider variety of shots. So, even though it may look like chaos, remember, it is controlled chaos, and it is essential to your children’s tennis development.

The best place for your child to learn and develop as part of the USTA tournament pathway is in our:

After-School Junior Tennis Program:
Our weekday after-school tennis program helps young players build skills, improve match play, and gain confidence on the court.

If you cannot make it during the week, our Saturday Morning Junior Tennis may fit your schedule. It is 10 & under, only red and orange ball development, but intended for families who cannot accommodate weekday sessions.

For kids playing 10 & under tennis with orange and green balls who can rally, play, and serve underarm, we’re excited to offer orange and green ball match plays on Fridays. It is by invitation only, based on level of play, but perfect for juniors ready to compete. The match play is a great stepping stone towards USTA tournaments. Sign up is available through the Houstonian app.

Since all the kids loved pickleball camp this summer, we wanted to offer a new Junior Pickleball Program, so kids can continue developing their skills, and learn this fast-paced, beginner-friendly game.

All junior racquet programs started the week of August 18. You can register and join anytime using the link here: https://houstonian.campintouch.com/ui/forms/application/camper/App

DUPR Pickleball leagues begin in September! Leagues are organized by skill level, with two back-to-back sessions on Tuesday evenings and additional daytime leagues on the other days of the week. Please email our Racquet Sports Director Sarah Flood at sflood@Houstonian.com for more information.

Coming Soon – Our New Titan Pickleball Machine:
We’re excited to announce that we have ordered the new Titan Pickleball Ball Machine. This highly sought-after, battery-operated machine pairs with an app on your phone. It delivers drills, stats, and training insights to help you improve faster. This will be a great addition for our pickleball players.

The cold towels available in between the outdoor courts will also continue through the end of September.
