Dryland Workouts to Increase Swimming Performance

There are several methods to improve your swimming, and some occur out of the water! Your swimming performance can be significantly improved if you can fit even one of the following activities into your daily routine.

Working on your strength, flexibility, adequate rest, and learning what recovery works best for your body all play a role in successful swimming. Your body will function at its peak every day if you recover, whether it's by getting that extra hour of sleep or by relaxing after a strenuous session. The amount of effort you put into your training will ultimately only matter based on how well you can recover. Another good practice for swimmers is to perform five minutes of flexibility work a few times a day. Your soreness can be greatly reduced by using a foam roller. Also, your range of motion can also be improved by static stretching. One great thing about flexible work is that it doesn't require a lot of time. Your body will reward you for any amount of additional stretching.

Swimmers can maintain their best posture and balance in the water by engaging in core work. Your body will resist less as you strengthen your core, which will also help you maintain a better body posture. A strong bodyline will help you maintain your position in the water as you begin to tire and will improve your swimming efficiency.

Maintaining strength in the weight room can significantly enhance performance and reduce the likelihood of injury in the pool. An efficient method of building strength that will help you swim faster is resistance training. Squats and pull-ups are excellent examples of compound movements that work the entire body and provide support for all your aquatic activities. What better method to build muscle than with a well-designed lifting program? Houstonian Club Personal Trainers can create programs for strength and mobility to help you in the pools.
