Bio

 
Mariaan de Swardt, a native of South Africa, played tennis professionally from 1986 to 2001.  Her career high world singles ranking was 26, and she ranked 11 in doubles in the world. She was a member of the South African Federation Cup team as player and captain from 1992 - 2004. 

Mariaan also represented South Africa at the Summer Olympic Games in 1992 and in 1996.  Mariaan, with her partner David Adams, has won two Grand Slam titles in mixed doubles competition: the 1999 Australian Open and the 2000 French Open.   She was also a Wimbledon women’s doubles finalist with Elena Tatarkova.  

Mariaan has worked in all aspects of the tennis industry which includes management, coaching professionally, collegiate at Georgia Tech and recreationally since 2001. Since 2011, she has worked as Head Pro and Assistant Director of Racquets at River Oaks Country Club, Houston, Texas. She has been a commentator for Eurosport, the USA Network, South African television and also speaker at conferences across the USA.
